When we started planning 30 Hour Day 2, one of our first concerns was the venue. We wanted to make the next production bigger, better, and more Portland-y than the first. And so when we happened upon Pioneer Courthouse Square as our choice—and it was available—we were sure we had found the perfect venue, not only to showcase Portland charities—like p:ear, the Portland chapter of the Red Cross, and Oregon Food Bank—and other charities worldwide, but to bring the show to a much larger audience.
There was only one problem. You see, the new venue brings with it a whole new set of logistics and costs. And today, as we’re staring down the barrel of some very real costs, we’ve got to be blunt: it’s not exactly certain that we’re going to be able to pull this off.
The economy has prevented many would be sponsors from being able to assist in this effort. And even though a number of folks have stepped up, we’re still quite a ways short of our goal. But honestly, we also underestimated the time we would need to pull these finances together and didn’t start looking for sponsors anywhere near early enough.
So we are very much on the brink of having to cancel the show. We make our final decision on Wednesday afternoon. Yes. This Wednesday.
But we still have hope. So if you’re in the position to sponsor—or to introduce us to sponsors—we’re all ears. The opportunity? Well, our first show had more than 70,000 viewers worldwide. And this time around? We’re planning to be in Portland’s living room, during 4th of July weekend, during the Blues Festival. So you can only imagine the foot traffic through the Square.
It’s a great sponsorship opportunity for a good cause with some premium exposure. And at this point, every little bit helps.

Could you please share how short the budget is as of today or approximately how many more sponsorships you need (at the average level) to make it work? Hope you can go on with the show!
How much do you need?
We are hoping to secure at least $10,000 in sponsorship to prevent us from canceling the show.
What if you did a http://www.kickstarter.com/ to get it going? Charity for charity! Why not? There is no lack of creativity in what 30 Hour Day is trying to do. Completely different project than last time, with it being outdoors and all.
