Isn’t there always another way to do things? Can’t we always stop and ponder our options when stumped and see if we can find a better solution? Usually, the answer is yes.
And finding another way was the task we were faced with if we wanted to continue to produce 30 Hour Day in two weeks. We’d been searching a while for a way to cut costs and make this thing happen without sacrificing the quality you’d expect from us, and to keep the event big and make it more Portland-y than it was before.
That way didn’t present it’s self until we were down to the wire and Dr. Normal asked for a little help from some friends.
One of our largest expenses was AV equipment and crew. We have some equipment. We have some crew. But we didn’t really have enough of either to pull off all this business that is show at our new and improved location in The Square. But now thanks to the volunteer efforts of the pdx.fm crew we’ve got the man power we need to make this happen.
Not familiar with pdx.fm? Really? Well you should be. Pdx.fm has been building up shows and a reputation for quality production in audio entertainment on the internet and in less than a year have really made a mark here in Portland. It’s cast of characters and crew are one and the same. Having had the opportunity to work with them before, we know they’ll bring their all to this project and we can’t wait to get started.
What does that mean? Are we cool? Are we in the clear? Are we all funded up and ready to go?
We still need sponsors and volunteers to make the magic that is 30 Hour Day work but we’re closer to where we need to be. With a little help from some of you I think we’ll be able to pull this thing off.
